MAPS 4 offers multi-functional SCADA platform

MAPS 4 is a multi-functional SCADA from Mitsubishi Electric with object orientated control and visualisation software for demanding customers and applications. It provides a full life-cycle planning, management and integration platform for applications from manufacturing to infrastructure. An HMI version also exists for machine builders and customers wanting a lightweight localised control and visualisation tasks.

Built on a strong Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), the full MAPS 4 process suite delivers flexibility in handling, automating, controlling, verifying and auditing processes. SOA is a way or organising software that helps users respond faster and more cost-effectively to changing market conditions. It also promotes reuse at the service level and simplifies interconnection to and from existing and legacy IT assets. The resulting software suite reduces the time for project development and integration, while enabling users to realise Smart Factory objectives.

Multi-functional SCADA platform

MAPS 4 solution provides fast initial development and project planning flexibility. It does this using pre-configured Object Template models, with the flexibility to copy, adapt and create new objects very fast. A built-in library of over 100 PLC and RTU drivers supports by adding components to a manufacturing or process control orientated project. MAPS 4 also includes the full operational profiles of devices like PLCs, drives, servo systems, HMIs and robots.

Within the standard MAPS 4 SCADA users can build an integrated shop-floor solution, including production, energy efficiency, asset performance solutions. Furthermore, project changes are deployable centrally providing a single point of engineering that reduces costs and increases usability.

Secure data sharing and cross platform connectivity are priorities for many process management applications. The SCADA is suitable for local, cloud or private server hosting, and connects direct to third-party cloud hosted environments.

Developed around popular industry standards of OPC DA and UA, MQTT and BACNet, it is Industry 4.0 and IIoT ready. It combines the compatibility advantages of built-in OPC UA and DA support, with the openness of an HTML5 web client. Secure web connections provide easy browser-based monitoring and operation for PCs and mobile devices.

The scope and scalability of the product mean lower project engineering and development costs for all sizes of project. The amount of physical programming required is low, even when the complexity of the application increases. This has benefits for the end user and the system integrators as both can become more competitive as a result. The investment is also better secured because the solution remains very flexible for updates and new projects.
