Schneider Electric Magelis STO/STU clever entry-level HMIs.

Magelis STO and STU panels are Schneider Electric’s entry-level HMIs.  The compact panels offer high resolution touch screens with an innovative mounting system. The proven Vijeo HMI software make them ideal for small machines, in industry, and infrastructure applications.

Integrated communication capabilities ensure full compatibility with Schneider automation products using UNI-TE and Modbus. Downloadable communications protocols mean they communicate equally well with PLCs made by Allen-Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, Siemens via an integrated serial link.

Magelis STO

The Magelis STO small panels offer 3.4” monochrome screens with 2 different types of backlighting, in either green/orange/red, or white/pink/red. All STO models are equipped with two USB V2.0 ports for data transfer.  No tools are required to install the compact Magelis STO5 panels, which are suitable for mounting directly on the machine frame or in an enclosure using spring-clips.

The STO501 model features one RS-232C serial link port with 9-way removable screw terminal block, to allow direct communication with the Zelio Logic SR2/SR3 range of controllers. The STO 531/532/735 models include one RJ45 port for integration of an Ethernet TCP/IP networks via Modbus TCP or a third-party protocol.

The Magelis ST07 models have a 4.3” 64 K TFT colour touch screen for clear visualization and a high quality display. The unique design of STO7 panels with optional adapter frame supports eight times more pixels and a 50 % larger screen size while keeping the same panel cut-out. This reduces the need for machine redesign or maintenance and also makes it backward-compatible.

Vijeo XD for Magelis STO7

Magelis STO7 terminals are configured using Vijeo XD. Its new navigation system uses optimised graphics and animations make it easy to create an intuitive user interface and straightforward design experience. ST05 is configured using Vijeo Designer.

Magelis STU

Slightly up-scaled, the Magelis STU models are available with either 5.5” or 5.7” TFT colour touch screens and can be supplied with or without the Schneider logo.  No panel cut-out is required to install a Magelis STU small panel. You only need to drill a 22 mm in diameter hole- just like installing a pushbutton. The front module (comprising the screen) is connected to the rear module (comprising the terminals and connectors) via this 22 mm drilled hole.

Embedded Ethernet communications

All Magelis STU models are equipped with one RJ45 port and two USB V2.0 ports (mini and standard versions) for data transfer. The embedded RJ45 connection is a multi-protocol RS-485/232 enabling integration of an Ethernet TCP/IP network and the use with Modbus TCP and associates services such as the Web Gate function. Embedded Etherent Communications are open and faster to make it easy to communicate with commercially available equipment without extra cost.
