FATEC Inverter drive beginners course from Mitsubishi Electric

Called the Inverter School Text, this 72 page document from Mitsubishi Electric UK introduces inverter drives explains in detail the operation and characteristics of the inverter performance for practical applications.  Course duration is estimated to be two days.

The target audience of this introductory course is those who have never used an inverter before to those who have some experience of using an inverter but want to know the basic principles. The course describes the techniques, motor-related and power circuit-related contents that are common to inverters in an understandable way. This course also gives a simple account of the contents that are good to know for using an inverter including basic operations of an actual machine.

1 BASICS OF MOTOR

The first section covers areas such as types of motors used with inverter drives; principles of operation from starting with Fleming’s left-hand rule; motor performance; the relationship between motor speed and generated torque; slip, and finally installation

2. BASICS OF INVERTER

This section covers the basics of an inverter including converter operation and principles of inverter operation; regenerative braking, and open loop, closed loop and other control methods.

 3. DEMONSTRATION MACHINE OPERATION

Section looks at the electrical connections and parameter settings used on a Mitsubishi FR-A720 Series inverter drive.

4. PRECAUTIONS

Finally the precautions section considers the electrical environment, correct selection for loads and motor capacity; application examples; maintenance and inspection, and troubleshooting.
