Three variable speed drive application guides from Mitsubishi Electric

Why reinvent the wheel when you can utilise over thirty years of inverter drives application and installation experience.  Mitsubishi Electric UK  has published a series of application guides including: winding applications; vertical form, fill and sealing, and pump applications.     Click ‘Read full post>’ for details and links to the Mitsubishi Electric UK download site
Winding Applications

There are two main types of wind applications – wind and unwind.  Effective winding is carried out through monitoring and controlling the position of a dancer roll, and adaptive motor control. As fluctuations in the dancer position occur, the speed and torque of the motor are adjusted so that the web is wound/unwound cleanly without breakages.

Winder applications are found in a variety of industries including: Printing; Packaging; Paper; Wire drawing, and Labelling industry

Vertical form, fill & seal applications
Vertical form fill & seal applications utilise servo motor technology to accurately pull and feed plastic film material from a roll stock to be heat formed, volume dosed with a product, and then sealed and cut to be carried away by an unloading conveyor.

While the methods for filling and sealing vary from machine to machine, vertical form, fill & seal applications are essentially organised into two categories; Continuous motion bagging machines and intermittent motion bagging machines.  Products entering the feeder can vary from a viscous fluid to a solid material and will often play a key role in how the machine is designed.

Applications include: Food/beverage bag filling; Pouch packaging; Industrial powder filling and so on.

Pumping applications

Pumping can be defined as the ability to compress or drive a fluid.  Within applications pumping can mean passing a fluid into or out of a system where either fluid pressure or flow rate is controlled. Typically an inverter operates at the centre of the application determining the control characteristics of the pump.

Pumping applications are to be found in a variety of industries including: waste water treatment; swimming pools; building water management; irrigation and so on.
