3D SCADA from Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric Japan has announced plans to release an advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software called MC Works64 from October 2012.  The software features 64-bit 3D graphics and is capable of displaying plant system configurations in 360-degree perspectives.

MC Works64 will be a component of Mitsubishi’s MELViz iQ PlantSuite, an integrated SCADA and monitoring system they have been developing to expand business in the social infrastructure markets.

MELViz iQ PlantSuite also contains a feature called MC AppBuilder that combines a variety of ease of use features to enhance the user’s experience.  These include a database with which users can file and sort information on graphics like symbols and  face plates, control programs such as programmable logic controller (PLC) function blocks and various types of communication interfaces; and functions to automatically generate monitoring screens, PLC programs and OPC communication settings.

MC AppBuilder is expected to lead to substantial reductions in engineering and system setup costs for system integrators, and allow users to easily set up and carry out the monitoring of plant systems and energy consumption.

According to Mitsubishi Electric, the concept will significantly reduce a user’s total cost of ownership, and will become the one-stop solution package in the social infrastructure market.
