Magelis SCU: HMI controller in a pushbutton hole

Magelis SCU from Schneider Electric represents a new generation of small HMI controllers for process and machine controller applications. The innovatively designed HMI saves up to 30% in installation and ownership costs throughout machine life cycle.

Magelis SCU substantially reduces wiring and costs when compared to solutions with a separate PLC and HMI by embedding all the key functions in one modular solution without additional cost.  There as a choice of crystal-clear touch displays with gloved operator activation.

Pushbutton hole installation

Similar in construction to the Magelis STU small panels, mounting is via a standard pushbutton diameter hole, with screwdriver-free I/O connection on removable terminal block built in with spring clamps resistant to vibration that simplify installation. The Screen modules and Controller modules (for simple machines or processes) are also available separately as replacement parts.

For each screen size, the HMISCU6A5 (3.5”) and HMISCU8A5 (5.6”) they are equipped with a 128MB memory capacity and 14 digital inputs and 18 digital relay outputs, 2 high speed counter (HSC) inputs and 2 pulse train source transistor outputs.  They also include ports for onboard Ethernet, CANopen , RS 232C/RS 485, and USB port for a parallel printer.

Remote access to production data

Using Vijeo Design’Air, improves access to the machine of plant operations. The  App is available for smart phones and tablets from the App Store and Google Play, and gives users remote access to a fully operable mirror-view of the application. Users can also connect remotely via the free WebGate option using a PC browser to visualize and control the system, and send emails on event for remote warnings.

Configuration

Magelis SCU Small HMI controllers are configured using Schneider Electric’s machine automation software, SoMachine which combines both HMI and control functions. Its advanced user interface has many configurable windows, enabling projects to be developed quickly and easily.

Execution of programmed logic sequences with the five IEC 1131-2 languages (LD, ST, FBD, SFC,IL).  SoMachine software, supports six programming languages (FBD, ST, SFC, LD, IL, CFC) and compliant with IEC 61131-3.

SoMachine offers of templates (programs, architectures, etc.), libraries (function blocks, etc.), and integrated expert functions. In addition, users can define their own variables once and maintain them in a single project file.
