New ABB variable speed drive brings intelligent climate control.

ABB’s new generation ACH580 HVAC variable speed motor drive integrates easily into any building facility management system. Operator menus allow users to programme based on the applications and the functionality they require, in plain English and not technological jargon. Sleep and timed functions are embedded to ensure that the drive doesn’t run when you don’t need it to.

Precise, reliable and energy efficient

We wanted to give you a better understanding of the power and energy usage of your system, that’s the reason we have a real-time clock and built-in energy calculators displaying, used and saved kWh, CO2 reduction and money saved. The drive calculates energy savings (in terms of kWh, CO₂ and money) and can display the information locally or send it to building management systems via a fieldbus.

A range of enclosures and mounting options simplifies installation into clean rooms, or dusty and wet environments, made possible by the drive’s robust, wall-mountable construction in both IP21 and IP55 configurations. The ACH580’s built-in features reduce on-site commissioning time, bring added value to existing control products and provide accessible diagnostics and troubleshooting.

It can be installed local to any motor or remotely as required and drives can be placed side by side, in either horizontal or vertical installations. Protection against internal contaminants is accomplished through our standard coated circuit boards. Building management communications

ACH580 is suitable for application up to 250 kW, and work with any type of HVAC motor including high efficiency IE3/IE4 PM motors and IE4 SynRM motors. Embedded BACnet MS/TP and HVAC communications protocols allow users to control applications, report findings and perform diagnostics. BACnet IP over EtherNet and Lonworks can be added as plug-in options.
