ABB introduces the ACH580 VSD for HVAC applications to 250 kW.

ABB Drives has announced a series of VSDs specifically enhanced for heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) applications. The enhanced features and dedicated display offered by the new ACH580 drives simplify installation and integration in motors from 0.75 to 250 kW and is plug-in-ready to install. Applications include hospitals and data centres, commercial buildings and schools.

The drive is suitable for use with any type of HVAC motor, including induction, permanent magnet and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motors providing guaranteed energy consumption. A short-form HVAC menu and control panel assistants enable quick and easy commissioning, and functions. It can also be integrated with any major automation of HVAC system.

Embedded HVAC protocols

Embedded HVAC communications protocols reduce wiring costs and additional components, and users are able to control applications, report findings, read and write I/O settings and perform diagnostics natively through embedded BACnet MS/TP and other HVAC protocols.

Bluetooth keypad communications

The drive provides a PID loop controller with two configuration sets, which can be configured for fine- tuned control of motors, fans and pumps in HVAC applications. It also provides four external PID loop controllers that can be used for separate external devices such as dampers for variable air volume or valves for cooling and heating. A Bluetooth wireless enabled keypad allows users to commission, start, stop, monitor and reset faults all from devices including phones and tablets.
