Most modern machines are fitted with a Human Machine Interface (HMI) for machine operator control and process visualisation offered by HMIs. Local HMIs make the workplace more efficient and comfortable to the operator and add value to industrial and commercial machinery in food & beverage and other applications.

Schneider Electric offers both HMI equipment and their protection housing matched to the operating environment. Control enclosures to house industrial devices such as display screens, push buttons, keyboards, lights and other operator control equipment.

Stand-alone machines

HMIs perform as operator panels for stand-alone machine-level, small process or embedded applications. They are often connected to a PLC controller or host computer and HMI software. They can run on a PC, panel PC, static terminal and mobile devices, allowing advanced visualization and integration into supervisory and enterprise-level solutions.

Many modern HMIs such as the Magelis GTU also provide integrated PLC functionality for independent machine control. The GTU is suitable for retrofitting to older machines where the mechanics are still good but the controls are outdated. The Spacial S3CM range offers steel control enclosures with a suspension system.  They are available with control enclosures, keyboard enclosures, support arms with fixed or rotating joint system, and a range of installation accessories.

Technical characteristics

Control enclosures comprise a steel body, with a grey textured epoxy-polyester paint finish, rear door opening to 120° and closure by double-bar lock. The enclosures are protected to IP54, and have external mechanical impact resistance IK 10.

The top panel is reinforced (3 mm) and drilled 54 or 87 mm (according to reference) to enable suspended enclosure mounting. an aluminium front face (thickness 2.5mm), protected on both sides by plastic film, for mounting of dialogue elements and a trim frame comprising 4 extruded aluminium profiles.

Control Desks

Control desks are used to protect sensitive equipment such as computer monitors or other operator control devices in harsh, wet, dirty or dusty environments.  They are frequently used in applications that require operators to sit down or to stand up for extended periods of time.

PC Racks

PC racks to protect personal computers (PCs) in industrial or office environments.  They prevent the entrance of environmental contaminants such as dust and water and can be used to integrate a monitor, central processing unit (CPU), keyboard and printer.
