Magelis SCU | Small HMI controllers

The Magelis SCU is an ultra-compact HMI controllers from Schneider Electric UK’s Flexible Machine Control concept MachineStruxure.   It combines a Human Machine Interface and control functions within in a single module.  SCU simplifies the amount of equipment required for simple machine control, and reduces the associated costs throughout the life cycle of the machine.

Available with either 3.5″ of 7.5″ QVGA colour TFT LCD touch-screens, they are further available as either simple machine controllers , or simple process controllers depending on the onboard processing capacity.   Both include recipe handling is available  for 32 groups of 64 recipes comprising 1024 ingredients max and real-time clock.

They benefit, in particular, from the same innovation as the Magelis STU Small panels range: Mounting via a 22 mm diameter hole (pushbutton type) which considerably simplifies installation. The Screen modules and Controller modules (for simple machines or processes) are also available separately as replacement parts.

Simple machine controllers

For each screen size, the HMISCU6A5 and   HMISCU8A5 are equipped with a 128MB memory capacity and 14 digital inputs and 18 digital relay outputs, 2 high speed counter (HSC) inputs and 2 pulse train source transistor outputs.  They also include ports for onboard Ethernet, CANopen , RS 232C/RS 485, and USB port for a parallel printer.

Simple process controllers

For each screen size, the HMISCU6B5 and   HMISCU8B5 are equipped with a 128MB memory capacity and 6 digital inputs, 2 x 13-bit analogue inputs (Voltage/current), 2 x 16-bit analogue temperature inputs (TC/PT100-1000) and 2 high speed counter (HSC) inputs. There are and 6 digital relay outputs outputs, 2 pulse train source transistor outputs, and2 x 12-bit analog outputs (Voltage/current). They also include ports for onboard Ethernet, CANopen , RS 232C/RS 485, and USB port for a parallel printer

Configuration

Magelis SCU Small HMI controllers are configured using Schneider Electric’s machine automation software, SoMachine which combines both HMI and control functions.  It is based on Vijeo Designer software running on Windows 7 Professional 32/64-bit.

SoMachine software uses an advanced user interface with many configurable windows, enabling unique projects to be developed quickly and easily.  Execution of programmed logic sequences with the five IEC 1131-2 languages (LD, ST, FBD, SFC,IL)

Magelis SCU Small HMI controllers offer the following HMI functions:
