Mitsubishi adds IP55 to its high performance FR-A800 drives
Mitsubishi adds IP55 to its high performance FR-A800 drives.
Mitsubishi Electric UK has introduced an IP55 version of its FR-A800 frequency inverter drives where dust and splash-proof protection is advised. The FR-A800 is suitable for the use with both standard asynchronous machines and IPM/SPM motor technology.
Specially designed for harsh environments and tailored to the requirements of pumps and fans, the drives are highly robust and ideally suited for use in industrial and commercial building automation systems as well as in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
The new FR-A846 series with an IP55 protection rating represents Mitsubishi Electric’s latest drive technology in the output range from 400 watts up to 160 kW. The drive’s EMC filter built in as standard ensures full compliance with the EMC Directive (EN 61800-3, 1st environment, category C2) while its DC reactor – also built in as standard – ensures full compliance with IEC 61000-3-12 for reducing and limiting harmonic currents so that separate certification is not required. The FR-A846 also has a built-in main switch version with locking option.
The FR-A800 high performance frequency inverters combine innovative functions and reliable technology with maximum power, economy and flexibility. FR-A800 is particularly well suited to demanding applications like extruders, centrifuges and winding machines.
For applications like cranes, lifting gear, and high-bay warehousing systems the FR-A800 delivers smooth cargo handling work at low speed and high torque for the slow and stable movements required for heavy objects.
Sensorless vector controls
Accurate line control is necessary for the machining of products such as paper, thread, wires, sheet materials and tapes. FR-A800 is designed respond rapidly to changes in line speed and suppress the occurrences of winding unevenness on the production of consistently high-quality products.
Even without encoders the FR-A800 continuously calculates the optimum magnetic flux for every operating state. A complex motor model and the specifications of the connected standard asynchronous motor are used to improve torque constancy across an extended speed range.
For example, the system can generate torque of up to 200% from a very low starting frequency of just 0.3 Hz. Known as real sensorless vector control (RSV), this Mitsubishi Electric technology can be used to regulate the torque. This makes it possible to use inverters for many applications that were previously the exclusive domain of DC or closed-loop vector drives.
Precise speed and torque
Cutting-edge machine tools are handling harder and thinner materials, and FR-A800 is capable of controlling accurate high-speed rotation essential for fine machining and precise cutting of hard and difficult-to-grind materials.
When operated with an encoder, the FR-A800 drives deliver ultra-precise speeds across the entire control range (precision ±0.01 %) and extremely fine torque control (±10 % precision and ±5 % repeatability). This outstanding performance makes it possible to switch from simple servo systems to inexpensive frequency inverter systems.
FR-A800 complies with international regulations and standards and is equipped with the latest safety functions and is available from stock at discounted prices from:
