ACH550 HVAC drives from ABB UK make maintaining a building’s comfort zone easy, quick and energy efficient. The drives control the speed of pump, fan and compressor motors used in air handling units, cooling towers, chillers and other heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) applications.

The ABB ACH550 is a complete dedicated low voltage AC drive especially for HVAC applications. The drives are designed to meet the HVAC market requirements including harmonics and EMC standards, and for easy integration with building management systems.

They feature built-in control programs specifically designed for HVAC applications like cooling tower fans, supply and return fans, and booster pumps and condensers. With built-in PID control, native BACnet communication, timers, real-time clock and a calendar. Alternatively the drives can be used independently of a BMS system.

Industrial & commercial buildings

In commercial and industrial buildings, an HVAC system maintains the desired air quality by controlling temperature, pressure, humidity, air change and carbon dioxide content. These properties are effectively controlled by an air handling unit (AHU).

The AHU’s supply and return air fans feed air into, and extract it from the building. Air quality is measured using appropriate sensors located within the air ducts throughout the building. Measurements from these sensors determine the required fresh air flow.

The intelligence within the HVAC control panel means that the user is given direct and understandable instructions in clear text at all times.
