Altivar ATV IMC Drive Controller for Altivar 61 and 71 drives
The Altivar ATV Integrated Machine Controller (IMC) Drive Controller VW3A3521 is an option card that can be installed in the Altivar 61 and the Altivar 71 to adapt the variable speed drives to specific applications by integrating control system functions similar to a PLC. It can be combined with another option card for I/O extension or communication. The IMC Drive Controller is supplied by Schneider Electric UK
The Altivar ATV IMC Drive Controller uses the SoMachine software to control 10 digital inputs (2 inputs can be used for 2 counters or 2 inputs can be used for 2 incremental encoders). Two analogue inputs are also supplied along with 6 digital and 2 analogue outputs.
The ATV IMC Drive Controller can manage up to 9 tasks. An internal clock backed up by a lithium battery makes it possible to have a log of events that have occurred. Events can be time and date stamped. The drive controller can also use the drive I/O, encoder interface card points counter and drive parameters such as speed, current, torque, etc.
Communication
Three communication ports are included in the controller::
– A master port for the CANopen bus
– An Ethernet port to be used for programming with SoMachine software or Modbus TCP communication to Schneider Electricand third party Ethernet architectures
– A mini-USB B port is used for programming with SoMachine software.
High-speed counters (Fast I/O Functions)
The ATV IMC provides two high-speed inputs for high speed counting functions. High Speed Counter functionalities are divided in two functions. Basic simple mode function for counting down one shot, and counting down modulo. The main modes are for complex functions including
– Counting one shot,
– Counting modulo,
– Counting up/down free (for quadrature encoder and other speed or position sensors),
– Event counting,
– Frequency meter.
Programming
One Altivar ATV IMC Drive Controller option card can be installed on each drive. The Altivar ATV IMC Drive Controller supports IEC61131-3 programming languages using the SoMachine software. These include:
