New MELSEC FX5 series from Mitsubishi Electric to replace FX3
The new MELSEC FX5 series is the next generation of the successful compact PLC that Mitsubishi Electric will be launching on the market at SPS 2013. Fully compatible with the existing MELSEC FX3 range, the FX5 offers significant performance advantages over its predecessor.
The processor is three times faster than its predecessor so the controller can perform complex positioning tasks without any additional modules. Functions such as fast counters and pulse outputs up to a frequency of 200 kHz are integrated in all the basic units, which enable the control of up to four independent axes.
Integrated functions include high-speed counters and pulse outputs for cost-effective high-performance positioning tasks, and an Ethernet interface and analogue inputs and outputs (I/Os) for PID controllers. These make FX5 series suitable for machine control and a wide range of industrial applications.
An SD card slot enables production data to be recorded and processed quickly and easily and transferred to other equipment. To protect your intellectual property FX5 comes with several security functions like privilege based program access and program on the SD card with copy protection password.
The basic units are equipped with innovative processors and are designed for international use, operating on 100/240 VAC or 24 VDC. Base models are available with 32, 64 and 80 I/O with either relay or transistor outputs. The base are expandable up to 256 I/O with expansion modules or to up to 512 I/O via suitable networks (CC-Link, CC-Link IE Field, Ethernet, Profibus and Profinet).
The MELSEC FX5 series is the result of the consistent development of the MELSEC FX3 series and offers outstanding performance. Mitsubishi Electric pioneered the compact PLC over thirty years ago and now claims market leadership in the compact PLC sector with over thirteen million controllers sold.
