Mitsubishi Electric UK has updated its pulse output module with a new special function module for the FX3 family, the FX3U-1PG is a single axis positioning module.  The new unit is an   efficient single-axis positioning module for controlling either step drives or servo drives (by external regulator) with a pulse chain. It has some interesting new features and will ultimately replace the FX2N-1PG.

The FX3U series is the third generation of Mitsubishi Electric’s successful compact PLC family. It features a special second “adapter bus” system, which complements the existing system bus used for expansion, special function and network modules. Up to ten additional modules can be connected to this new adapter bus.

Mitsubishi FX3 PLCs already include built-in high speed inputs and outputs, by using the FX3U-1PG you can add up to 8 additional pulse train outputs for advanced multi-axis positioning applications.

The new module is for accurate positioning in combination with the FX3U series. The configuration and allocation of the position data are carried out directly via the PLC program. A very wide range of manual and automatic functions are available to the user.

FX3U-1PG has three key new features:
1. S-shaped acceleration/deceleration for smooth start/stop and reduced shock loads on machines
2. Target positions and speeds can be changed during operation giving greater flexibility for users
3. Higher speed operation from 1 to 200KHz
