Replacing obsolete Schneider products

The replacement product list for obsolete Schneider products is where you find equivalent products.  Called the Schneider Electric part number substitution tool the table enables users to find obsolete products from the last 25 years and identify a replacement or equivalent from the current range.  This also include products branded Telemechanique and Merlin Gerin, and is accessed at the online part number substitution tool.

In addition to constantly improving their products to make them faster, cheaper and smaller, manufacturers are also affected by their electronic component suppliers.  As new technologies evolve, processor and device makers also adopt newer technologies, meaning the production of older technology based parts are no longer viable.  This forces equipment manufacturers to change their products

In Europe the restricted use of certain hazardous material in electrical and electronic equipment was Directive 2002/95/EC.  Implemented in 2006, the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) had a significant impact on the devices and technologies used.

The RoHS directive reduced the usage of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.  This affected not only components but also manufacturing techniques and has driven the move from lead based solders to lead free alloys.

The six RoHS banned substances are:

Lead

Mercury

Cadmium

Hexavalent chromium

Polybrominated biphenyls

Polybrominated diphenyl ether

All electrical and electronic equipment supplied by 999automation.com are RoHS compliant
