Mitsubishi expands FX PLC memory capacity with flash ROM FX3U-FLROM-1M
When Mitsubishi Electric introduced the FX3U range of compact PLCs in 2005, one of the claims made was “you never need to worry about memory capacity again”. This was, and still is true in respect of programming capacity but there was always a compromise when it came to storing source data (also known as symbolic data) in the PLC’s memory.
With modern applications there is an increasing demand to store more data in the PLC, and to meet this demand Mitsubishi has introduce the new family of flash memories that allow the user to utilise the full 64K memory of FX3U for code whilst also storing the symbolic data in the extra capacity provided the FLROM.
The new memory cassettes are available in four versions with up to 1.3MB capacity
Maintenance is now simpler as the user can upload the programme with full structure and comments to any PC, whereas previously they would have needed to have a copy of the original programme on their PC. As the unit uses a flash memory no battery is required, and a write switch prevents erroneous errors.
