Control Freaks take the biscuit

The E series is a superb example of successful industrial design. With the new E1000-series Mitsubishi extended its product line with 11 new models across it's key and touch screen ranges.

Automating manual processes is far more challenging than people imagine, particularly when the process has defied engineers for years.  Having solved the mechanical problems of producing biscuit crumbs, breakfast cereal and snack foods system integrator Control Freaks of Spalding in Lincs. developed an integrated control scheme to guarantee consistent results.

The solution uses a Mitsubishi FX3U PLC to control several E700 and D700 inverter drives over RS-485 to controlling the mixing.  An E1183 HMI provides local operator control and links the machine into the plant Ethernet.  Operator safety was provided by integrates the Mitsubishi WS Series safety controller for the discrete safety zones.
