Altivar Machine ATV320 extended availability drive

The new Altivar Machine ATV320 variable speed drive improves machine effectiveness across a wide variety of applications. Altivar Machine ATV320 was designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of machines, while optimising design and engineering costs for OEMs.


The drives are particularly suitable for applications involving simple industrial machines to increase machine availability while reducing the total machine cost. Designed for three-phase asynchronous and synchronous motors from 0.18 to 15 kW, the Altivar Machine ATV320 drive is robust, simple to commission, and easy to integrate into different machine layouts and cabinets.



There are 2 different formats for products up to 4 kW (with 240 V single-phase and 480 V three-phase supply voltage); book and compact: the book format (45 or 60 mm wide) is designed to be mounted side-by-side to save significant space on the installation footprint. The compact format is designed to be integrated in compact electrical cabinets (200 mm cabinet depth or less) or mounted directly on the machine frame.


Advanced functions

The Altivar Machine ATV320 includes many practical functions so advanced applications can also be covered. For example:

– Open-loop motor control combined with simplicity for asynchronous and synchronous motors, even at low speed and dynamic accuracy for start/stop applications,

– Advanced connectivity with automation architectures such as CANopen, EtherNet/IP – Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, Profibus, Profinet, DeviceNet.

– Application specific functions and ATVLogic bring the application expertise and flexibility into the machines.


Extended availability

ATV320 is built for continuous machine operation in harsh environments with high levels of ambient temperature, dust, electrical interruptions, or mechanical disturbances. It  will work in ambient up to 60°C with derating and 50°C without derating. Maximised machine operation time, as production changes, maintenance, safety diagnostics and operation, network configuration, and system integration can all to be accomplished quickly.


Faster to implement

Few additional devices needed to manage machine safety and simple logic functions, as both are managed internally within the drive. Design and engineering times are reduced by accessing PLCopen-compliant libraries and tested, validated, documented architectures (TVDAs) available through Schneider Electric’s MachineStruxure solutions


The Altivar Machine ATV320 range of variable speed drives provides integrated safety functions (according to standard IEC 61508) comparable with performance level “e” (PLe) according to standard ISO/EN 13849-1-2, and the drive software includes 5 safety functions that help machines meet safety requirements.
