Schneider’s new Altivar Machine ATV340 high performance drive.

 

Schneider Electric’s new Altivar Machine ATV340 is a variable speed drive designed for OEMs with high performance motor application requirements from 0.75 to 75 kW, with or without sensor input. It uses Schneider’s advanced application control for ease of integration into a wide range of automation applications including: packaging; material working; material handling, and hoisting machines.

 

The Altivar Machine 340 is a constant torque drive that aims to match any machine motor acceleration, torque and speed performance requirements. It is compatible with a wide range of motors such as asynchronous (IE2, IE3); synchronous; reluctance motors (IE4, IE5) for various applications in closed; and open loop.

 

It has an optimized speed bandwidth of up to 400 Hz, and is designed for dynamic applications that require faster acceleration or settling time. It is robust enough to handle high overloads, and applications demanding up to 220% nominal torque.

 

Reduced design-in and commissioning


The Altivar Machine 340 includes features to simplify the machine design and reduce the engineering time from selection to commissioning. Simple master slave configuration, positioning mode, integrated application functions facilitate application performance from material handling to cutting machines.

Available communication protocols include PROFINET, PROFIBUS Modbus, EtherCat, DeviceNet, CANopen, Bluetooth and Multi-Ethernet.

 

Seamless automation integration

The ready-to-use MachineStruxure application libraries are Tested Validated and Documented (TVDA), and combined with Ethernet services available in Altivar Machine 340 will facilitate machine design and help reduce design-in time.

The ONE button auto-tuning for motor identification gives users the possibility to replicate the complete project in a fast and seamless manner ensuring maximum productivity in machine commissioning and production.

 

Less downtime


The Altivar Machine 340 includes several features to keep machines running with minimal downtime. The Faulty Device Replacement (FDR) service within MachineStruxure means device replacement takes only two simple steps by the service technician. The drives use pluggable connectors so replacing a drive takes only a few minutes, and drive configuration is automatically downloaded from the PLC.

Data logging and monitoring through the local system or remote monitoring via the embedded web server ensure users have access to any motor or application-relevant data anytime, anywhere. This information can be used for predictive maintenance and to avoid breakdowns.

 

Safety

The Altivar Machine 340 is compliant with machine safety and cybersecurity standards to ensure enduring protection of your people and assets. It is compliant with machine-related safety standards EN ISO 13849-1 and EN-62061, and Achilles level 2 certification against cyber attacks

 

Altivar Machine 340 has been designed to fulfil application requirements for harsh environments, such as vibration, shock and non-conductive dust and where high temperature resistance up to 60°C is needed. It complies with IEC60721-3-3 Class 3C3 and 3S3.
