To stop quickly stop a motor fitted with an inverter drive, dynamic braking is often used. This involves applying a braking torque to the motor to bring it to a stop. The energy released during this process is normally absorbed by a braking circuit and dissipated through braking resistors in the form of heat, to protecting the drive from overloading.
Feeding the energy generated by braking back into the power supply generates much less heat than a braking resistor; reduces power consumption. Installation is simplified and space requirements reduced by eliminating the need for cooling hardware.

The active supply unit is able to boost output voltage, which guarantees full motor voltage even when the supply voltage is below nominal. The active supply unit combined with DTC control can even compensate for fast variations in line voltage. There is no risk of fuse blow or component damage due to voltage drops in the network.
